"It's a dream come true. It really is."
Cushing native, Rusty Morgan, responds with gratitude to an overwhelming show of support from family, life-long friends and Tiger fans as he takes on his new role as head football coach for the Cushing Tigers. "I know this community. It's where I was born and raised. I just couldn't be happier."
In an RDMGtv exclusive interview held shortly after the exciting news went public, Morgan gives us some insight into his plans for the team. "I do kind of want to bring my own twist on things but as successful as it's been, you don't have to change much."
After 5 years as an assistant coach for the Tigers, Coach Morgan intends to continue working with the team in much the same way as in previous years - "Establish the run on the offensive side of the ball and shut it down on the defensive side."
When asked if he ever imagined he would someday be head coach of his high school team, Morgan responded, "I knew I'd eventually want to be a head coach someday so when an opportunity like this one came up, there was no hesitation. I'll be here as long as they'll have me."
Head Coach Morgan expresses to the Cushing community and Cushing High School staff, "My wife and I are extremely happy and thankful. There's no place on Earth we'd rather be."
