"We made a simple defensive adjustment personnel-wise and offensively we just kept doing what we did," says Coach Shupe regarding the big improvement Tigers displayed in the game's second half. "Character is doing the right thing even when it's really really hard," Shupe said. "I heard a great coach talk about (it) - "If you'll fall in love with the process of teamwork, eventually the process falls in love with you and good things happen." - Hopefully we'll just keep responding and do the right thing."
While Cushing may have found their stride in the second half, good things still surfaced from the start as #24 Landon Kimmel scored a touchdown in the very first quarter after a fantastic 70 yard gain. The exciting play landed RDMG's choice this week for Play of the Game.
Kimmel also claims this week's MVP status from RDMG Commentator's Choice as well as the Viewer's Choice for MVP with a whopping 82.3% of fan's votes. Congratulations Landon Kimmel!
The first half of the game set a cheerful tone for halftime as Cushing Tigers recognized this season's senior team members and cheerleaders.
"With this win we're going to Sperry and we need everyone to go," Shupe encourages fans. "They're a really good football team with a good quarterback and we have our work cut out for us." Tiger fans can come show support to Shupe and his team as they face the Pirates at their next game in Sperry this Friday, November 10th at 7 PM.
