This week we focus on totals. Cushing's Offense and Defense had some very impressive numbers in the match up with Morris Eagles holding the Eagles to 19 total yards in the first half of play and amassing a whopping 332 yards. The second half consisted of 5 total drives (three by the Tigers and 2 by the Eagles) due to a running clock.
Cushing's only 1st half possession that did not result in a Touchdown was the last drive where Coach Shupe played his Junior Varsity team. The other seven drives totaled the 47 points the Tigers put on the board. Kade Holderread was 5/8 passing with 4 TDs and 141 yards. He found 2 different receivers (and an offensive tackle on a Hook-and-ladder play) for scores, including a 43 yard strike to England Honeybuss (the Crown Energy MVP) who had 2 catches for 59 yards and 2 TDs.
Defensively, the Tiger starters grounded the Eagles. Gunner Clevenger, the Morris QB, was 1/5 for 5 yards and 0 TDs on the night. Morris had eight drives in the first half in total: 2 ended with fumbles recovered by the Tigers and another with a blocked punt.
